MORPHOMETRIC CHARACTERIZATION OF YAMUÄÖNA RIVER BASIN AROUND AGRA, FIROZABAD AND ETAWAH DISTRICTS, UTTAR PRADESH, USING REMOTE SENSING AND GIS TECHNIQUES
Abstract: The present study is carried out to characterize the morphometry of Yamuna River basin using remote sensing and GIS techniques, covering parts of Agra, Firozabad and Etawah districts of Uttar Pradesh. The morphometric parameters were calculated and specialized through spatial analysis of GIS. The results of the morphometric parameters are the variables of linear, areal and relief aspects. The integrated analysis of the variables concludes that the basin is elongated in shape, having highly permeable rocks and suffered severe ravenous erosion. Hypsometric analysis shows that the basin is in mature to old stage of geomorphic development.
Keywords: Yamuna River, GIS, Morphometry, ravenous.
