Abstract: This chapter offers a critical and future-facing reconceptualization of teacher professional development and leadership, grounded in complex systems-thinking and responsive to the evolving global educational landscape. Rejecting reductionist, top-down paradigms, it repositions teachers as epistemic agents, pedagogical leaders, and architects of systemic transformation. It calls for a shift from compliance-based training toward immersive, co-constructed learning aligned with 21st-century classroom realities. Drawing on contemporary theoretical frameworks and global policy trends, the chapter outlines teacher-centric ecosystems that prioritize autonomy, innovation, and equity. It explores how digital technologies, virtual communities of practice, and transnational collaborations can reimagine PD as a lifelong, interconnected journey. Emphasizing the ethical and moral dimensions of teacher leadership, it culminates in a call to action for an inclusive, sustainable, and globally engaged profession—one where teachers lead not from the margins, but from the center of educational reform.
